Foundation Stage (FS2)

Welcome to Foundation Stage (FS2); the team is made up of Miss Sidebottom, Miss Gamble, Mrs Grainger, Mrs Gregory, Mrs Cuckson, Miss McBlane, Mrs Skevington and Miss Yeoman.

We have 60 children split into two classes for registration and P.E. For the rest of the time we mix together in our large inside space made up of three rooms and our amazing outside area which is accessed through doors in the classroom. The children learn through a ‘free flow’, play based curriculum with a range of child initiated and adult-led activities taking place both inside and out.

By focusing on the three prime areas of learning we can ignite children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, building their capacity to learn, form relationships with both adults and peers and thrive in a caring, fun and happy environment.

Every week, the children are encouraged to complete four challenges to create their own rainbow! These are activities to promote independent skills and to ensure that the children are accessing all areas of continuous provision that is on offer.

The children have an on-line Tapestry Learning Journal which is used to record photos, observations and comments in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us.  It is a wonderful way for parents to keep informed about their child’s learning instantly through email notifications.

Parents can add their own observations so we can gain an insight into their child’s interests and achievements outside of school, which can provoke some lovely discussions.
